Your best years are
not behind you.

I help people over 40 understand and optimise pain, recovery and performance.

Recovery takes longer than it used to. Aches hang around. Energy dips at the wrong times, the fog rolls in, and sleep does not refresh you the way it once did. Maybe you train hard and no longer bounce back. Maybe you have never been a gym person and just want to feel like yourself again.

Your GP says the bloods are "normal." But you know something is off. You can feel it. Normal is not optimal.

Your body is not working against you. It is under-resourced. Advanced bloodwork reads the pattern, then we fix what is missing, in the right order.

21 years in practice 75+ markers, 184 synergy patterns Clients across the UK

You Have Not Peaked.
Your Body Is Missing Something.

You have done plenty right. You have built a life, a career, a family, maybe a training habit most people could not keep up with. And somewhere in the last few years, the output stopped matching the input.

It rarely arrives all at once. It creeps in.

Great one day. Off the next. Progress has slowed or stopped, and it has started to feel like you have plateaued.

And here is the trap. You feel a bit off, so you either push harder or quietly settle for less. Pushing harder digs the hole deeper. Settling feels like accepting that this is it. Neither works, because neither answers the real question: what is your body actually missing?

This is not an age problem.
This is a pattern problem.

You have tried sensible things. The supplements. The early nights. The deload weeks, the wearables, the podcasts, maybe HRT, maybe physio. Some of it helped a little. None of it has joined up.

The reason is simple. Without knowing what is actually happening inside your body, every intervention is a guess. You are spending time, money and energy on things that may not be touching the real bottleneck.

Health optimisation is not about doing more.
It is about doing what your body actually needs, in the right order.

Different bodies. Different goals.
The same question underneath.

The people I work with do not fit one box. What they share is a version of the same sentence: something has shifted, and nothing I try quite fixes it.

Training hard, recovering slowly

Gym-goers, runners, cyclists and weekend competitors who feel like they have plateaued. You still push hard, but the bounce-back is gone and progress has stalled.

Perimenopause and beyond

Women navigating hormone shifts who want to understand what is actually changing, and support their body properly, with or without HRT.

Running a business, running on empty

Founders and professionals whose diary outpaces their energy. Brain fog and afternoon crashes are quietly taxing every decision.

Not a gym person

You do not particularly train, and you do not want to. You just want steady energy, clearer thinking and a body that does not ache by default.

Brain fog and flat energy

Sharp people who feel like the edge has gone. Concentration, memory, motivation and mood are not what they were, and coffee is doing more of the lifting.

Feeling like this is it

You have started wondering if feeling average is simply the price of being over 40. You are not ready to accept that. Neither am I.

Whatever your goal, the starting point is the same. Find out what your body actually needs. Then do the right things, in the right order.

Stop Guessing.
Start Seeing.

Imagine knowing, with precision, exactly what your body needs. Not guessing. Not following generic advice from a podcast. Not just the ten-marker NHS panel calibrated for established-disease detection, but a 75+ marker functional view calibrated for the optimal-range picture.

Low energy is not always an energy problem. Gut symptoms are not always a food problem. Poor sleep is not always a bedtime problem. The same symptom can have completely different drivers in different bodies. That is why generic plans fall apart, and why reading the pattern matters more than treating the symptom.

The Flagship Programme is built around advanced functional bloodwork analysis. We look at 75+ markers in the systems that quietly run your performance: thyroid, hormones, inflammation, nutrient status, metabolic health, stress physiology. Then 184 advanced synergy patterns read the ratios and relationships between markers, so we see how your body systems are actually functioning, not just whether each marker is technically "normal."

All of it is read against your Performance Health Blueprint, our functional systems analysis of your symptoms, lifestyle, sleep, stress, food, and goals. Together, the plan becomes specific to you. Built around your biology. Designed to fit the life you actually live.

This is not another health programme.
This is biological infrastructure.

The Right Steps,
In The Right Order.

Your plan is built around our unique 6-step Performance Health Framework. Each step has to be doing its job before the next one can. Skip ahead and the work does not hold.

Nourish is the foundation and the highest priority. Nutrients, sleep, nervous system, and the genetic story you were dealt run together, not in sequence. Everything above sits on this layer.

From there, the plan sequences digestion, drainage and detoxification, the resolution of inflammation, the metabolic and hormonal layer, and finally performance: sharper, stronger, ageing slower.

Doing the right steps in the right order is the difference between feeling slightly better and feeling completely transformed.

1
Nourish

The foundation and highest priority. Nutrients, sleep, nervous system, genetic predispositions.

2
Digest

Beyond the microbiome. Stomach acid, enzymes, bile, gut lining, beneficial flora vs pathogens.

3
Clear

Drainage. Detoxification. Elimination. Liver, kidney, bowel, lymphatic, hormone metabolism.

4
Resolve

Inflammation is normal. Failing to resolve it is not. CRP, hs-CRP, NLR, fibrinogen.

5
Adapt

Hormones and energy, in conversation. Metabolic and hormonal regulation, tissue repair, MSK recovery.

6
Perform

Sharper, stronger, ageing slower. Mental clarity, sustained productivity, sports performance, longevity.

Where Your Plan
Actually Comes From.

Functional bloodwork is the most comprehensive view we have of what is happening inside your body right now. The Performance Health Blueprint applies the same analytical depth to your symptoms, lifestyle and goals. Together, they reveal your unique needs.

Most plans ask "What symptoms do you have?" The Performance Health engine asks "What pattern is your body showing?"

What is going on inside
Advanced Functional Bloodwork Analysis

75+ markers read through optimal ranges, not disease cut-offs. Every body system covered: thyroid, adrenals, gut, inflammation, methylation, nutrient status, hormones, metabolism, cardiometabolic, immune, MSK. 184 advanced synergy patterns then read the ratios and relationships between markers. The patterns reveal how your body systems are actually functioning.

What life is asking of you
Performance Health Blueprint

A functional systems analysis of you: symptoms, lifestyle, stress, sleep, food patterns, history, goals. The bloods on paper, read against what life is asking of your body. Together, the plan becomes specific.

Bloodwork shows what is happening, and why. The Blueprint refines that picture against symptoms, goals and lifestyle. Together, the plan becomes specific to you.

Three Deeper Tests.
One Chosen For You.

One of these three tests joins the plan, chosen during your initial consultation based on your symptoms and goals.

Option One
Genetics + Epigenetics

The story you were dealt. And the story you are writing now.

DNA shows what you are predisposed to. Epigenetics shows how those genes are being expressed now. With your bloodwork, the three lenses become one picture: what your body is set up for, how it is responding, and what to do about it.

Example. Bloods show a methylation signal (raised homocysteine, borderline B vitamins). Genetics confirms whether you carry MTHFR variants. Epigenetics shows how strongly those variants are being expressed today. The plan becomes specific: which B vitamins, in which form, at which dose.

Option Two
DUTCH Hormone Test

How the body makes, uses, and clears its hormones.

Bloods show the hormones. DUTCH shows the rhythm and the metabolism behind them. Cortisol curve. Oestrogen pathway. Androgen conversion. Sleep-related melatonin.

Example. Bloods show raised cortisol and stress markers. DUTCH shows your specific cortisol pattern across the day. Bloods show hormone levels. DUTCH shows which oestrogen pathway is dominant, how much testosterone is converting to DHT, and how efficiently hormones are being cleared once used.

Option Three
GI Map Stool Test

What is living in your gut. And what it is doing to you.

Inflammation, poor nutrient absorption, immune dysfunction. The bloods often point to the gut. The GI Map shows what is actually in there.

Example. Bloods show the immune system biased toward bacterial pathogens, raised inflammatory markers, and signs of nutrient malabsorption. The GI Map shows the specific bacterial species your body is responding to, the level of gut inflammation present, and where the digestive system is struggling.

Bloodwork builds the full picture. The advanced tests add even more detail.

Built around your biology.
Sequenced in the order your body needs.

Different symptoms.
The same method.

Three clients, three very different starting points. In each case the bloodwork showed a pattern that explained what years of separate appointments had not.

48 · Manager · Keen Cyclist
Matt

Back pain for over ten years, neck pain creeping in, and recovery that had quietly disappeared. Scans showed things, but they did not explain the pattern. His bloodwork did: widespread inflammation and a uric acid picture that changed the plan completely. His back settled, his neck cleared, and his cycling performance jumped. The weight loss was a side effect.

50 · Mother of Three · Family Business
Claire

Knee pain, stiffness, exhaustion, brain fog and creeping weight. She had put it all down to perimenopause, and HRT alone had not moved the dial. Her bloodwork put gut inflammation at the centre of the picture. Working on gut, nutrient status and inflammation in the right order changed her knee pain, her energy and her thinking.

Business Owner · Burnout
Tim

Chronic back pain, work stress and burnout, despite eating well. Advanced bloodwork and genetics uncovered an iron pattern that had been missed for years, and a gut barrier under strain. His back pain resolved, the burnout lifted, and the clarity came back.

Every body is different and results vary. The common thread is the method: read the pattern first, then work in the right order.

What Is Inconsistency Actually Costing You?

Think about your best days. The ones where you are sharp, clear, present. Decisions come easily. You read the room. Energy holds until the evening and you still have something left when you get home.

Now think about the gap between those days and your average days.

That gap is the invisible tax. It shows up in the sessions you skipped because your body said no. In conversations where you were not fully there. In decisions you delayed because the clarity was not there. In evenings where the people who matter got the leftovers. In the slow drift away from the version of yourself that you know you can be.

You do not need higher peaks.
You need a higher baseline.

The Performance Health Programme is designed to close that gap. Not with hacks or willpower. By identifying and correcting the biological factors that are creating the inconsistency in the first place.

This is not another health programme. This is infrastructure for the way you are trying to live.

One free hour that changes
how you read your body.

Once a month I teach a free live session on Zoom: how advanced bloodwork can reveal why your body no longer recovers, adapts and performs like it used to, and what needs to change first.

Lou Nicholettos, founder of Performance Health

21 years in practice.
This is what I was built for.

I am a physiotherapist, bloodwork specialist, and functional medicine practitioner. I have spent my career working with the people other practitioners struggle with: complex cases, things that do not respond to standard treatment, clients who no one has been able to help, whose aches and pains do not fit neatly into boxes and do not simply resolve with time, or a few stretches.

That work led me deep into bloodwork, gut health, immunology, and epigenetics. It got personal too. A few years ago I was the marathon runner who looked fit on paper and felt exhausted in real life. My standard bloods were "normal," my afternoons needed a nap, and every specialist looked at one part of me in isolation. Learning to read functional bloodwork was the moment my own body finally made sense.

I created the Flagship Programme because I kept meeting the same person in clinic. Over 40. Capable and consistent. Quietly aware that their body was not responding the way it used to, and tired of being told everything looks fine. Advanced functional bloodwork changes that conversation. The cross-marker patterns, nutrient picture, inflammatory signals, and hormonal balance only become visible when you analyse 75+ markers against functional optimal ranges, alongside 184 advanced synergy patterns that read the ratios and relationships between them. When you can see what is actually going on, you stop guessing and start making changes your body actually responds to.

The Flagship Programme is the most direct way to work with me. I take a small number of clients at a time, because every plan is personally designed. There is no team, no automation, no junior practitioner stepping in. It is me, your bloods, your Blueprint, and a plan built specifically for you.

This Is Not for Everyone.

I am selective about who I work with because the programme only works if you are ready to do the work.

You are tired of

This is for you if

  • You are ambitious in work, sport, or life, and you know your body is becoming the bottleneck
  • You have been told the bloods are "normal" but you can feel something is off
  • You are done guessing and ready for a precise, evidence-based approach
  • You are willing to follow a personalised protocol and actually make changes
  • You value functional depth over trends and TikTok advice
  • You want to feel as good as you look on paper

This is not for you if

  • You are looking for a quick fix or a magic supplement
  • You are not willing to make changes to how you eat, sleep, train, or recover
  • You want someone to tell you what you want to hear
  • You are after a generic programme you could find for free online
  • You are not ready to take your health as seriously as the rest of your life

Common Questions

A GP blood test typically checks 10 to 15 markers calibrated for established-disease detection. This analysis uses 75+ markers calibrated for the optimal-range view, then 184 advanced synergy patterns read the ratios and relationships between markers. The two are built for different jobs: the GP panel detects or rules out specific diseases; the functional panel gives a fuller picture of how interconnected systems are running.

One of three: Genetics + Epigenetics, DUTCH Hormone Test, or GI Map Stool Test. We choose during your initial consultation, based on your symptoms and goals, so the test that joins your plan is the one that will add the most precision for you.

Every person is different, but clients commonly report more consistent energy through the day, better sleep, sharper thinking, fewer crashes, faster recovery, and a general feeling of operating from a higher baseline. Individual experiences vary.

Not at all. Some clients are competitive cyclists, runners and gym regulars. Others do not train at all and simply want steady energy, clearer thinking and a body that does not ache by default. The process is identical: find out what your body needs, then work on the right things in the right order.

No. The body keeps adapting when it gets what it needs. Slower recovery after 40 is common, but common is not the same as fixed. Much of what gets labelled as ageing turns out to be a readable pattern: nutrient gaps, unresolved inflammation, digestion under strain, poor clearance, stress physiology. Age changes the context. It does not remove the levers.

The whole programme is designed for busy people. Your personalised plan integrates into the routines you already have, it does not replace your life. Calls with me are short and high-impact, fortnightly across four months. There are no group calls you have to attend at fixed times. The whole point is to give you back time and energy, not take it away.

I arrange everything through a UK-wide phlebotomy network. You attend a local clinic at a time that suits you. The sample is processed at a UKAS-accredited laboratory. There is also a home-visit option in some areas.

Not at all. The Flagship Programme runs entirely online. The blood draws happen at your local clinic, the calls happen on Zoom, and the plan comes to you digitally. I work with clients across the UK and internationally.

Performance Health is led by Lou Nicholettos, an expert in physiotherapy, pain science and functional medicine. Her credentials:

  • Two master's degrees, including an MSc in Pain Science (pharmacology, immunology, pain mechanisms).
  • BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Sciences: sports nutrition, sports psychology, cardiometabolic health, biomechanics.
  • Advanced functional medicine training across cardiometabolic, gut, hormonal and immune health, advanced bloodwork, nutrition, supplements, environmental toxins and longevity.
  • Teaches and mentors clinicians across the UK, the United States and Australia.

For clients who want to keep going, there are ongoing options to continue working together long term. We will talk about what makes sense for you when the time comes.

Yes. The Flagship Programme can be paid in full or spread monthly across the four months. We will go through the options on your free health strategy call.

Stop Guessing.
Start Working With Your Body Again.

Book a free 30 minute health strategy call. We will talk about where you are, what you have already tried, and whether the Flagship Programme is the right fit. No hard sell. An honest conversation with the person who would actually be working with you.

I take a small number of clients at a time, so every plan is personally built.
